GTRI was honored to be invited for a second year to the Veterans Career Transition Day at Cisco in Englewood, CO.  The event on November 17 brought together technology industry leaders with transitioning service members, their spouses and care givers.

GTRI provided a panel of individuals who shared advice on finding a civilian job that matches a person’s interests and values; translating military skills into a resume; getting started with networking; interviewing in the private sector; and negotiating salary and benefits.

In addition to the panel discussion, attendees learned about how to develop a personal brand, and received information on IT training and certification. They also got a tour of Cisco’s technology lab.

The event was organized by Cisco’s VETS (Veteran Enablement and Troop Support) group, which offers mentoring and career transition advice for military veterans, as well as sending care packages to those currently serving and other support efforts.

GTRI currently has several veteran team members, and we welcome veterans to apply for employment.

Erin Keefer is the Training and Development Manager at GTRI.
