I’m very excited to announce a new opportunity for healthcare technology professionals in the Denver area to meet and collaborate! GTRI’s new Healthcare User Group meetup will provide a shared space for technologists and health professionals to discuss industry challenges around topics such as wireless in healthcare, bring your own device (BYOD), electronic medical records (EMR) on handheld, telehealth, clinical application workflow, data management and analysis, and alert/alarm fatigue. Through in-person gatherings, guest speakers from regional healthcare organizations will share how they address these challenges and GTRI’s healthcare technology consultants will lend their expertise, as well.

The first group meetup is April 14, and we’ll explore how optimized wireless can enable more effective clinical workflows, allowing clinicians to significantly improve the patient experience. Our speakers – Lance Meacham, network infrastructure manager at Children’s Hospital of Colorado, Bob Thorstensen, telecom-network manager at SCL Health, and Michael Edwards, principal architect at GTRI – will examine how wireless inefficiencies and downtime directly impact clinical effectiveness, clinician satisfaction and patient outcomes; and why wireless infrastructure is mission critical for clinical communication and care team collaboration.

Reserve your spot for our inaugural Healthcare User Group meetup and the presentation “Enabling Clinical Effectiveness over Wi-Fi” on Thursday, April 14 from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. at GTRI’s Denver headquarters. We’ll have BBQ, beverages and plenty of time to network with your peers.

We’ll also be launching a Meetup group soon and I’ll post the link in the comments section of this blog. Check back to join our Meetup group so you can be notified of future events and to connect with other group members.
